PURE STOCK RULES AND REGULATIONS
2011 RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.
COMPETING MODELS
a.
Only AMERICAN made stock production 6
or 8 cylinder vehicles allowed. Either 2-door
or 4-door models are permitted. T-tops are
permitted if the entire roof area is covered
with sheet metal and painted. Racecars,
trucks, vans, convertibles, sub-compacts, 4-wheel drive or station wagons are not allowed.
b.
Cars that previously competed at any
racetrack in any non-Enduro type division are
not allowed to compete in ODS Pure
Stock races.
c.
Body, engine, transmission and parts
must be stock for year, make and model of car except as noted within the 2011 rules. Year, make and model will be declared on the first
race the car is run and cannot be changed without approval of track officials. No truck, bus, marine or tractor parts permitted
except as noted in the 2011 rules. All parts
must be approved by track officials.
d.
All drivers must declare year, make and
model of car the first time the car is raced, The
declaration cannot change unless the driver brings another car to the track.
2.
BODIES
a.
Reinforcements to the body are not
allowed. This includes bumpers and the area
around the radiator. Reinforced cars will be
disqualified. Stock bumper may be enclosed in
aftermarket plastic nose supported with no more than ¼ inch tubing. No reinforcements permitted.
b.
A 4-point roll cage with three drivers
side door bars is mandatory. Roll cages must
not extend outside of the drivers compartment so as to be used as reinforcement. No rear bars permitted.
c.
All window glass must be removed,
except for the windshield. The windshield may
be replaced with Plexiglas; however, the entire windshield opening must be covered. All other glass, such as headlights and lenses,
must be removed.
d.
All flammable material, except the seat and
dash must be removed from the interior. This
includes the headliner, carpet, door panels, etc.
e.
Doors must be securely welded, bolted
or chained shut.
f.
Fender wells may be cut for tire
clearance; however, body must remain neat and clean in appearance. Other cutting of bodies is not allowed.
g.
Plastic grilles must be removed and can
be replaced with wire mesh.
h.
Hood and trunk hinges must remain
factory standard. Latching devices must be
removed and quick release pins only are to be installed.
The hood or trunk lid cannot be bolted or chained shut.
i.
All holes in the rear seat
area must be covered with minimum 20-gauge steel to seal off the trunk area from the
drivers compartment.
j.
Flags, fins, antennas, etc. are
not allowed.
k.
Exterior side-view mirrors are not allowed. The inside rear view mirror cannot extend outside
of the car.
l.
External lights, such as
brake lights or back-up lights are not allowed.
3.
SUSPENSION & REAR END
a.
Changes/alterations to suspension or
rear end are not allowed. Springs, sway bars
and all other suspension parts must remain standard.
b.
Rear end may lock. Posi-traction permitted.
c.
Springs must be factory stock and/or
standard replacement springs for the make and model car.
Truck, racing or altered springs are not allowed. Rubber spacers are not allowed.
d.
Minimum frame to ground clearance is seven
(7) inches.
e.
Reinforcements or suspension welding is
not allowed. Violators will be disqualified.
4.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
a.
Engine modifications are not allowed
except as noted herein. Maximum displacement: 350 ci + .060
overbore for GM and Dodge products. 351 ci +
.060 overbore for Ford products. Stock rods
only permitted.
b.
High performance parts of any kind are not
allowed. Parts must be approved by track
officials.
c.
Camshafts must be stock for the
make/model of motor.
d.
Intake manifold must have an accessible
vacuum port plug to enable technical inspection of vacuum.
Range of allowable vacuum to be 18 or more inches at 850 rpm.
e.
All vehicles must use a two-barrel
automotive type Rochester carburetor. Booster in Rochester
carburetor must measure a maximum of .249 in center hole of booster (Tech gauge measures
.259 to allow for tolerance. If gauge slides
through booster, it will be declared illegal). Height
of booster must be a minimum of .746 (Tech gauge measures .736 to allow for tolerance. If gauge slides over booster, it will be declared
illegal). Rochester carburetor must run with
cast iron intakes, only.
f.
Headers are not allowed. Mufflers and tailpipes may be used but are not
required.
g.
Stock OEM heads only. GM to GM, Ford to Ford. No aluminum heads.
No performance heads. Motor
mounts must be stock and in stock location. No
Vortec, World Products, double hump, Canadian or aftermarket heads permitted. No center valve cover bolts permitted. Heads must be approved by track officials.
h.
Battery may be located in the
drivers compartment with master cut-off switch located near the center of the dash. Battery must be completely enclosed within a steel
box with a maximum thickness of 1/8 and a minimum thickness of 1/16. The lid must bolt shut and the box must be bolted
securely to the floor. The battery must be
sufficiently blocked to prevent excess movement within the box. The box must be insulated at the point of the
battery posts to prevent arcing.
i.
Stock automatic or standard
shift transmissions are permitted. Powerglides
are permitted and must run stock converter and stock input shaft. Forward and reverse must work. Alterations or modifications are not allowed. Must have a working neutral safety switch. May use transmission cooler. Maximum 11 inch stock converter. One U shaped steel strap, 2 inches wide
and ¼ thick must surround drive shaft and be fastened to the floor cross-member. Drive shaft must be magnetic steel and painted
white.
j.
Antifreeze or additives of any
kind are not allowed in the radiator. Only
plain water may be used.
k.
Aluminum radiators permitted.
5.
FUEL CELL & FUEL
a.
A fuel cell is mandatory and must be
located in the trunk. The fuel cell must be
positioned as far forward and as centered as possible.
Four (4) solid steel straps must be used to secure the fuel cell to the
trunk floor. The original gas tank must be
removed. Any openings left from removing the
original gas tank must be closed with minimum 20-gauge steel. Any car with a leaking fuel cell will not be
allowed to compete.
b.
The filler neck must be completely inside the
trunk. The filler neck must be equipped with a
proper cap rags, tape, etc. are not allowed.
c.
Racing fuel permitted. Additives such as alcohol, propylene and methanol
are not allowed.
6.
TIRES & WHEELS
a.
225 x 70 or 235 x 70 tires only. All tires on the car must be the same size, height
and width. All tires must be DOT approved for
street use only and able to pass state inspection. Race
tires such as Hoosier or Comanche are not allowed.
b.
New and used tires only are permitted. RECAP tires are not allowed. Bleeder valves are not allowed.
