Harris, Callahan, Ingle Winners At ODS:
Conclusion of Late Model Race
Set For 6/28.......6/21/08

On a night of firsts at the Old Dominion Speedway, Billy Ingle, Davey Callihan, and Jerrold Harris took home victory honors at the Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas . Ingle took home the win in the Victory Lane Graphix / Advanced Auto Care UCAR feature, coming from the rear of the field to take the win over point leader Brian Fox. The win was Ingle’s third win in 2008, equaling Fox’s win total for the season. However, Ingle still trails Fox, who’s consistent season thus far (3 wins, 7 top 5’s, 7 top 10’s, with an average finish of 2nd) has him 16 points ahead of Ingle. Rounding out the top five behind Ingle and Fox were 15-year old Tyler Cypher, his best finish to date, Eddie Chewning in his first ever start in the division, and Amber Abrams, who brought home her 3rd top 5 of the season.
The Virginia Sprints competed for the first time ever at the famed 3/8 mile oval, and Jerrold Harris took home the win in over veteran Donald “Satch” Worley in the 20-lap feature event. These high-powered, winged machines were clocked in the mid 14 second range, easily eclipsing the all time track record of 15.22 set by Mark McFarland in 2003. They are set to return to ODS on July 12th. Rounding out the top five were Mike Marr, Billy Norfleet, and Scott Vasbinder.
Davey Callihan jumped in Grandad Al Dailey’s Ford Fusion Mini Modified for the first time, spun the car and backed it into the fence in practice, but was able to take home victory honors in the 30-lap Mini Modified feature. Callihan and point leader Bobby Able battled side-by-side at the mid-point of the event, with Callihan finally taking over the top spot with just a few laps remaining. Able held on for second, followed by Mike Carte, Jason Darne, and Keith Riley.
The Late Model feature was suspended after 30 laps due to heavy thunderstorms that moved into the area. At that time, Adam Brenner had the lead over point leader Willard Lawrence and Mike Southard. That race will be completed next Saturday night, June 28th.
The schedule for next Saturday night will start a bit early as the conclusion of the Late Model feature will begin at 6:30 PM. Practice and qualifying will begin at the normal times (2PM and 5PM). Then the schedule for the evening will be Twin 50 lap events for the Late Models, 20 laps for the UCARS’s, 30 laps for the Mini Modifieds, and 30 laps for the Legends.
